KATHMANDU, JULY 4
The ongoing Covid-19 prohibitory period in Kathmandu, which is set to expire today at midnight, has been prolonged till July 15.
The Kathmandu District Administration Office has decided to extend the lockdown till July 15 while introducing a few new measures.
As per the new order, starting from Monday, vehicles do not have to adhere to the odd-even system of movement any longer and can ply normally, while following safety protocol.
Smaller public vehicles such as microbuses and tempos will now be allowed to operate in compliance with safety guidelines.
Likewise, the bigger capacity public transportation will also have to strictly follow the Covid-19 protocol and not exceed the designated passenger carrying capacity.
Likewise, in relation to the education sector, it has now been decided that examinations can be conducted in halls with no more than 25 students in attendance at one time.
During the previous order, public vehicles with capacity to carry over 25 people were granted permission to operate while the smaller vehicles were still waiting their turn.
However, restrictions will continue on operation of activities that can lead to overcrowding such as conferences, cinema halls, party palaces, swimming and other sports, gathering at public spaces, religious gatherings, as well as educational institutions.
Authorities have resorted to gradual relaxation of the regulations with the corresponding decrease in reported number of single-day Covid-19 cases in the valley and elsewhere.
