Up to 28 percent increment in public transportation fare

KATHMANDU, JULY 14

The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has imposed an increase of up to 28 percent in public transportation fares.

The fares of public vehicles carrying passengers have been increased by 28 percent while those vehicles responsible for import and export of goods in the hilly regions can charge an increased price by 20 percent.

In the same manner, the DoTM has informed that the fares for vehicles transporting goods in the Tarai region have been increased by 26 per cent.

The decision to hike the prices had been taken by former Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang.

It has been learnt that the Department decided the aforementioned after taking into consideration the increased cost of operation of vehicles.
