Three missing, two injured after boat capsizes in Karnali

Three persons have gone missing while two others sustained injuries after the boat they were travelling on capsized in Karnali River, on Sunday.

According to Kailali police, the boat was ferrying people from Mohanyal Rural Municipality of Kailali to Chaukune Rural Municipality of Surkhet district.

The missing persons have been identified as Urmila Salami Magar (20) of Mohanyal Rural Municipality-3 and her 10-month old child, and Parbati Thapa (20) from the same area, informed SP Bishwo Adhikari, Chief of District Police Office, Kailali.

Meanwhile, Dhansara Salami Magar (19) and her one-month-old son Karna Salami were injured in the incident. Dhansara is in critical condition, added police.

It has been reported that 10 persons were travelling in the boat at the time of the accident among which five managed to swim to safety.

Meanwhile, a team of police deployed from the Sugarkhal-based Area Police Office in Kailali are currently at the incident site.
