A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the Land Related Problem-Resolution Commission, on Friday.

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 6

A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the Land Related Problem-Resolution Commission, on Friday.

Advocate Prabesh KC moved the apex court claiming that the dissolution of the commission was both unconstitutional and against the law of the land.

Following the registration of the writ, a hearing has been scheduled for August 9.

The writ claimed that the government's decision to dissolve the commission goes against Article 37 of the Constitution that has provisioned the right to housing which has made certain that every citizen shall have the right to appropriate housing along with Article 40 which has provisioned that the state shall once provide land to the landless Dalit in accordance with law and shall arrange a settlement for the Dalit who do not have housing.

The incumbent government on August 3 had dissolved the Commission that was formed by the KP Sharma Oli government on March 22, 2020, to provide land to landless people across the country and to manage informal settlers.
