Gelje Sherpa completes 12th 8000er as First Taiwanese female scales Kanchenjunga

At least five climbers including the first Taiwanese woman successfully scaled the world's third tallest mountain in the autumn season.

According to Dawa Sherpa, Managing Director at Dolma Outdoor Expedition, Tseng Ko-Erh became the first Taiwanese national as well as first female climber to stand atop Mt Kanchenjunga in the autumn season as a team of five climbers scaled the mountain at around 1:00 pm on October 16.

Co-owner of Dolma Outdoor Expedition Nima Gyalzen Sherpa, Gelje Sherpa, Dakipa Sherpa and Pasang Rinjee Sherpa under the Taiwanese Kanchenjunga Expedition Autumn 2021 also climbed the 8,586-metre mountain as they found a clear summit window, Sherpa shared.

'They left from Camp 4 on 15th October at around 6 pm and reached the summit at around 1 pm next day,' he added.

With a success on Mt Kanchenjunga this season, Gelje has completed his 12th 8000er, according to Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit Treks.

'Gelje, who ascended Manaslu four times (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021), Everest in 2018 and 2021 and Annapurna I, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, Shisha Pangma in 2019, K2 in 2021 (Winter), Lhotse in 2021 and finally, Kanchenjunga in 2021,' he shared.
