Teachers and staffers of community schools of Kalyanpur Municipality staged a sit-in protest in front of the municipality office after they did not get the salary.

The teachers and staffers said that they were compelled to protest against the municipality after the authority concerned did not release salary and allowance for the last four months.

They further added that they celebrated Dashain festival without salary and might have to face the same situation during Tihar and Chhat festivals too.

Head teacher Ram Kripal Mandal at Isharisarhi Basic Level School said that they were compelled to protest since they did not get salary for the last four months. 'We work to earn our living and we won't be able to work on empty stomach,' he said.

Mandal added that they had stopped teaching-learning activities in the school and resorted to sit-in protest.

Similarly, another head teacher Lal Dev Sah in Ram Dulari Secondary School said they had also closed the school and resorted to protest.

'We will continue sit-in protest until they get the salary,' he added. Sah said that no teacher and staffer could work on empty stomach. The municipality acting administrative officer Jaya Prasad Das said that the salary could not be released as the municipal assembly could not be held before Dashain.
