Dabur Nepal pact

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 2

ICIMOD, Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd and Taalkolla CFUG have signed a tripartite agreement. Pema Gyamtsho, director general of ICI- MOD, Harkirat Singh Bedi, business head of Dabur (Nepal and Myanmar) signed the memorandum of understanding.

Basanta Raj Shrestha, director strategic cooperation at ICI- MOD and Arvind Rana, head-medicinal plant at Dabur Nepal were present on the occasion. The objective of this initiative is to achieve livelihoods and conservation outcomes through increasing forest and economic productivity using a multi-stakeholder partnership in Baitadi district, Nepal.

Given its geographic and climatic conditions, Baitadi District has good potential for cultivation of Sichuan pepper (timur). Based on this potential, Taalkolla Community Forest User Group (CFUG), Dabur Nepal Pvt Ltd, and the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICI- MOD) are collaborating to plant 25,000 Sichuan pepper seedlings within a five-year period with support from the Baitadi Divisional Forest Office.
