Two die in Jhapa road accident

Two persons died in a bus-motorcycle collusion at Kankai Municipality-7 in Jhapa on Wednesday evening.

Two persons died in a bus-motorcycle collusion at Kankai Municipality-7 in Jhapa on Wednesday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Santosh Rai, 33, and pillion rider as Chandra Bahadur Rai, aged around 35-40, both of Rong Rural Municipality-6, in Ilam, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basanta Pathak, at District Police Office, Jhapa.

According to DSP Pathak, the incident occurred when the bus (Na 5 Kha 7936) heading in westward direction and a motorcycle (Me 7 Pa 2846) collided head-on at Kankai-7, Durgapur along the East-West Highway on Wednesday.

The two were critically injured in the collision and died while receiving treatment at the B&C Hospital in Birtamod.

The bodies have been kept at the hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, police took control the motorbike, bus and bus driver Saroj Dhakal, a local of Chulachuli Rural Municipality-2 for further investigation.
