Nepal records 213 fresh COVID-19 cases, two fatalities on Sunday

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 02

Nepal recorded 213 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 828,986 while the death toll remains at 11,596 as two fatalities were recorded on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 812,419 with 209 discharges logged today.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 7,631 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 5,962 were PCR tests while 1,669 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,870,324 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed three positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 216.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 98%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 4,971.

Currently, there are 98 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Saturday, Nepal had witnessed 342 cases of the respiratory infection while no person had succumbed to the disease in the same period.
