KATHMANDU, JANUARY 7
Annapurna Media Network, the parent company of Annapurna daily newspaper, launched 'unity for sustainability' programme today to aid the green programme.
Inaugurating the programme here today, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that Unity for sustainability programme launched by Annapurna Media Network was important as media could play vital role in creating awareness for environment friendly behaviour in the country. The PM said that Nepal's glaciers were receding and some extreme climate events were occurring due to climate change. The PM said that the government had launched short and long-term programme to mitigate climate change impacts but the government's efforts alone were not enough to deal with the adverse impacts of climate change.
Chairperson of Annapurna News Network Captain Rameshwar Thapa said unity for sustainability was one more brick to promote environment friendly behaviour in the country and his company would not leave any stone unturned to promote such behaviour in the coming days. He said his media had been promoting the green campaign for last few years and would behaviour continue to work as a climate responsible media to aid the national and international efforts to mitigate climate change impacts.
Three former prime ministers - KP Sharma Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Pushpa Kamal Dahal - lauded AMN's effort to promote environment friendly behaviour.
