BIRGUNJ, JANUARY 19

Madhes Province registered a 2-0 victory over Province-I in the fourth Sahana Pradhan Memorial National Women's Hockey Tournament here at the Aadarshnagar grounds on Wednesday.

Aakriti Rai and Geeta Kumari Mrinching scored one goal each for Madhes. Mrinching was adjudged the player of the match. In another match, Sudurpashchim and Gandaki played a goalless stalemate.

Kamala Devi Gharti Pun of Gandaki was declared the player of the match. A total of six teams are taking part in the leaguecum-knockout tournament organised by Nepal Hockey Association under the auspices of Sano Paila.

Top three teams will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively, while five best individuals - player of the series, highest scorer, defender, goalkeeper and emerging player - will be awarded with Rs 5,000 each.
