Active caseload tops 65k as 8815 more get infected; three Covid-19 fatalities reported

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 21
The national active Covid-19 caseload of Nepal climbed to 65,374 on Friday as 8,815 people tested positive for the infection in past 24 hours.
Nepal recorded 8,815 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 896,584 while the death toll reached to 11,635 as three fatalities were recorded today.
Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 819,575 with 766 discharges logged today.
As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 23,092 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 18,618 were PCR tests while 4,474 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 5,093,823 PCR tests have been carried out till date.Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 1,888 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 10,703.
Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 91.2%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.
Currently, there are 154 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
