BAITADI, FEBRUARY 3

A hilly district in Sudurpaschim's Baitadi has witnessed snowfall since this afternoon - the third time in two months. Anarkholi, Khodpe, Dholyamod, Satbanjh, Dehimadau Sigas, Melauli, and the vicinity have been blanketed in snow.

Snowfall has disrupted transportation along the roadways including Bhimdatta Highway. There was rainfall in the morning and snowfall began in the afternoon.

Police Inspector Rajesh Shahi at Area Police Office, Patan, said that Jayprithvi Highway connecting Baitadi to Bajhang was disrupted after heavy snowfall in Dholyamod area. The snowfall also blocked Dasharath Chand Highway, according to Police Inspector Darshan Khadka.

He said snowfall had badly affected people's lives.

Mahesh Bhatta, a local from Mushyachaur of Dasarathchand Municipality informed, 'It is severe cold here. It is difficult for us to move outside.'

Health workers have advised people to stay away from rain and snow. Especially, the children and senior citizens' health should be taken care of properly, they said.

However, farmers here are happy to have the snow as that will bring good harvest of winter crops such as wheat.
