JSP-N cadres protest against Birgunj mayor

BIRGUNJ, FEBRUARY 12

Cadres of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal staged a protest and shouted slogans against Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Bijay Kumar Sarawagi, in Birgunj, today.

JSP-N cadres manhandled Mayor Sarawagi, who was elected from their own party, and shouted slogans when he was at Ward 15 to inaugurate a health post.

Cadres staged the protest saying that the mayor had bypassed party activists at the inauguration programme.

Protesting cadres had stopped Mayor Sarawagi at the main gate of the health post.

Police personnel had escorted the mayor to the health post, while the party cadres were shouting the slogans against the mayor.

JSPN-aligned student leader Harendra Sah said the health post was established with the budget allocated by party Chair Upendra Yadav and the mayor had bypassed party cadres at the inauguration.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sarawagi commented that some hooligans had staged the protest at the provocation of some people in a preplanned manner. 'It is pointless to invite party cadres at the inauguration of the health post established by the metropolis,' Sarawagi added.
