Six political parties held a protest rally in Tanahun's district headquarters Damauli against the American assistance package Millennium Challenge Corporation.
Protesters carrying placards and banners against Millennium Challenge Corporation started from Anasan Chautari and took rounds of the bazaar before returning to the same place and converging into a corner meeting.
Speakers at the programme described MCC as against the interest of the nation and underscored the need to prevent it from being ratified by Parliament.
Further, the speakers warned that they would be obliged to create a whirlpool of protest if attempts were made to push the pact ahead despite the massive public protest.
CPN Tanahun district incharge Purnajit Pun, Rastriya Janamorcha district coordination committee Chair Puspalal Shrestha, CPN-Mashal district coordination committee Tanahun Spokesperson Bharat KC, CPN-Revolutionary Maoist district Secretary Nabin and others had spoken at the programme.
They also asked people to be vigilant against attempts being made to ratify the pact.
