Hailstorm obstructs roads in Pokhara

DAMAULI, FEBRUARY 20

Life was badly affected due to heavy rainfall coupled with hailstorm this afternoon in Pokhara metropolis, Kaski Transportation service was also obstructed due to hailstone and rain. A huge amount of hailstone that accumulated on roads made it difficult to ply vehicles.

The roads in wards 8 and 9 of the metropolis received huge amount of hailstones.

Mediaperson Raju Bhujel said that life was hit hard due to the hailstones and rainfall that occurred for almost an hour.

It was very difficult for vehicles to ply the roads. Even for pedestrians it was difficult to walk on the roads.

Locals in Pokhara said that it was raining heavily till this evening. According to District Traffic Police, Kaski, they cleared the roads with dozers.

Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said that rainfall coupled with hailstones took place due to the Westerly wind.

Police said that dozers has been used to clear the road at Indra Chowk and Mahendrapul, among other places.
