All six Indian tourists who were stranded in a remote area of Upper Dolpa after heavy snowfall have been successfully rescued and brought to the district headquarters, ending a rescue operation launched amid deteriorating weather conditions.

A helicopter dispatched early Monday morning evacuated the group from Danning Danda in Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality-8, where they had been stranded for several days after heavy snowfall blocked movement in the high-altitude region.

According to district authorities, the helicopter took off at around 6:30 am and completed the rescue operation without incident. All six tourists have been transported safely to Dunai, the headquarters of Dolpa district, and are reported to be in normal health.

The rescued tourists have been identified as Moumita Halder, Piyali Koley, Jajala Trived Kumar, Aditya Singha, Diplina Biswas and Rajesh De.

The tourists became stranded after attempting to travel through the area during a period of adverse weather that brought significant snowfall to Upper Dolpa. Authorities had initiated rescue preparations after receiving reports that the group was unable to continue its journey.

The District Administration Office thanked all agencies and personnel involved in coordinating and carrying out the operation, which successfully brought the stranded visitors to safety despite challenging weather and terrain conditions.
