RAJBIRAJ, MARCH 3
The Madhes Province government has honoured the families of martyrs who lost their lives during the people's war.
The families of 12 martyrs who were killed during the people's war received Rs 100,000, shawls, and felicitation letters from the government at a programme jointly organised by the Internal Affairs and Communication Ministry and Madhesi Martyrs Foundation.
Speaking at the programme, Internal Affairs and Communication Minister Bharat Prasad Sah said the government had decided to provide Rs 300,000 to each family of martyrs.
'While they have received Rs 100,000 outrightly, the additional amount of Rs 200,000 will be provided to them in the next instalment,' said the minister.
'We can in no way compensated the sacrifice made by these families.
The assistance we have provided is a small help from my side to them,' Sah said.
He also expressed commitment to keep supporting the families as long as the government afforded for the same.
The minister also spoke about the government's programme on 'one martyr family: one job opportunity', among others, for these families and the families of those who were injured during the people's war and Madhes movement.
On January 19, the government had provided assistance of Rs 300,000 to each of the 58 families who lost their family member during the Madhes agitation.
