BIRATNAGAR, MARCH 23

Tribhuvan Army Club, Sudurpashchim Province and Lumbini Province recorded victories in the third Girija Prasad Koirala Memorial National Men's Hockey Tournament here at the Sahid Stadium on Wednesday.

TAC thrashed Gandaki Province 11-0 riding on four goals each from Roman Rana and player of the match Pradeep Rajbanshi. Sumit Kumar Kami scored two goals and Rajendra Karki netted for TAC.

Likewise, Sudurpashchim outplayed Madhes Province 7-1. Mahesh Nepali scored three goals and Suresh Prasad Joshi netted two for Sudurpashchim, while Keshav Joshi and Deepak Raj Joshi scored one each. Ranjan Mahato netted the consolation goal for Madhes. Ganesh Khafuna of Sudurpashchim was named the player of the match.

Also, Lumbini recorded a 4-1 victory over Province-I. Suraj Kumar Gharti scored two, while Yogesh Kumar Bandhare and Adnan Ansari netted one each for Lumbini. Naresh Thapa scored the consolation goal for Province-I. Salman Sheikh of Lumbini was declared the player of the match.

With their second win, TAC and Sudurpashchim accumulated six points each, while Province-I and Bagmati have three apiece. A total of seven teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Nepal Hockey Association. Top three teams will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
