KATHMANDU, APRIL 4
A team of four Sherpa climbers have successfully scaled the scenic mountain in the Khumbu region, opening a summit route to the spring climbers.
According to Pemba Sherpa, Managing Director at 8K Expeditions, Pemba D Sherpa, Mingma Sherpa, Pasang T Sherpa and Lhakpa Tamang stood atop Mt Amadablam opening a summit route on Saturday.
The team mobilised by 8K Expeditions also made the first summit of the 6,812-metre peak, Sherpa shared.
Expedition Operator Association Nepal has assigned 8K Expeditions to fix the ropes on Mt Amadablam this season. 'All four climbers descended to the base camp,' Sherpa said.
After the Sherpas open the route to the summit, foreign and Nepali climbers who obtained permits from the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation could ascend to the summit of Amadablam now. DoT has already issued permits to 25 climbers from three different expeditions for Amadablam
Mt Amadablam receives world climbers every year since American climber Barry Bishop reportedly made the first ascent to the majestic peak in 1961.
