Workers of the Kanchanpur-Kamala four lane road project under the East-West Highway have been agitating for the past three days.

Workers at the East Camp Chadani of China Railway Engineering located at Krishnasawaran Rural Municipality gave continuity to their agitation today as well in Saptari.

A worker complained that the agitation had obstructed the road construction, but the company had not shown any interest in trying to resolve the problem.

Struggle Committee Coordinator Santaram Chaudhary said that they were forced to agitate as their repeated pleas to fulfil their demands had fallen on dead ears of the company authorities.

Workers bemoaned that the company was threatening to replace them with new workers and was not ready to address their demands.

Hundreds of workers have registered complaint against the company with the rural municipality office. Agitating workers have put forward a charter of demands including professional security and salary increment.
