WHO chief meets Foreign Minister Khadka

KATHMANDU, APRIL 21

Director-General of the World Health Organisation Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus along with Regional Director Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh met Dr Narayan Khadka, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and WHO Representative to Nepal Dr Rajesh Pandav, on Thursday.

Singh commended Nepal's efforts in scaling up COVID19 vaccination & being on track to achieve 70% coverage by mid-2022.

Dr Tedros is in Nepal at the invitation of the Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is on a three-day trip to Nepal, where he is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

Prior to visiting the president, he will call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

He will also visit Patan Secondary School, Hanuman Dhoka Square and Patan Durbar Square during his stay.
