Dhondup claims golf trophy

KATHMANDU, APRIL 23

Wangchen Dhondup won the title of the Glenlivet Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the one-handicap amateur golfer Dhondup accumulated 41 points to finish first. Along with the trophy, he received 25-year-old Glenlivet whisky and other gift hampers.

Col Bikash Shah came second with 40 points and he got 18-year-old Glenlivet whisky and other gift hampers.

Dhondup was also the best scorer in gross section with 40 points but he chose nett category trophy under one-player-onetitle rule. His brother, Tashi Tshiring bagged the gross category trophy with 36 points and he got 21-year-old Glenlivet whisky and gift hampers.

Tshiring also won the most birdies award with six birdies.

Gita Gurung won the women's section title on count back after she was tied with Tara Karki Chitrakar on 31 points. Gurung scored 17 points on back nine, while Karki Chitrakar earned 16.

Tendi Sherpa was the winner among senior golfers with 39 points. Lt Col Dinesh Baniya and Sam Doublard won the closestto-the-pin and got longest drive awards respectively.

A total of 102 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Pernod Ricard. Country Head of Pernod Ricard Ravinder Saini, Gokarna Golf Club Captain Joseph Nathan and AIG of Nepal Police Hari Bahadur Pal handed over prizes to the winners of the tournament.
