Woman ward chair

GAIGHAT, MAY 17

A woman ward chair has been elected for the first time in Jantedhunga Rural Municipality in Khotang.

Aruna Devi Rai from CPN-MC won the election with 2, 881 votes while her closest rival Shankar Bahadur Rai from CPN-UML received 1,575 votes.

Similarly, the common candidate from the alliance Khem Bahadur Rai of Nepali Congress won the vice-chair post with 2,805 votes, while his closest rival Bimala Rai from UML received 2,495 votes.

Likewise, the chairman candidate Shalik Ram Banjara of NC was elected in Barahapokhari Rural Municipality with 3,181 votes while his nearest rival Goma Magar from UML received 2,330 votes. Banjara had also been elected to the same post in the past election.

The vice-chair candidate Yubalraj Rai from CPN (US) was elected with 2,694 votes while his closest rival Jiban Kumar Rai from UML received 2,295 votes.
