DHANGADI, MAY 30

Two of the persons who died in yesterday's plane crash in Mustang are from Dhangadi of Kailali. They have been identified as Purushottam Gole and his wife Tulasidevi Tamang of Ward No 14 of Fulbari, Dhangadi sub-metropolis.

Owner of a carpet industry in Kathmandu and also a social activist, Gole had set up a school in his village with his own investment, and served as a teacher for some time.

'He made huge contribution to the development of education in Fulbari. Not only was he the founder of the school, but he also served as a teacher here without receiving any salary,' said Tel Bahadur Pakhrin, principal of Siddhartha Preliminary School.

According to Pakhrin, he himself was Gole's student.

Having served as a youth coordinator for the then Fulbari VDC during the king's rule, Gole was also involved in politics. 'Be it during the monarchy or after democracy was restored in the country, Gole was society's man, who participated in all social events and gave whatever he could contribute,' said local Mehesh Gole Tamang.

'It's a great loss for our village that he has died. In fact, our whole village is mourning his death now,' Gole added.

Deceased Gole had migrated to Dhangadi from Dhanusha in the late 70s.

Lately, he was staying in Kathmandu, running a carpet industry. He had six children.

Having flown to Mustang to visit the Muktinath shrine on a Tara Air plane, Gole and his wife lost their lives in the plane crash yesterday.
