DHANGADI, JUNE 10

A teacher at Seti Technical Institute in Dipayal reduced the practical marks of a girl student for not receiving his phone calls at night.

The guardians have accused the teacher Dipak Kumar Chaudhary of reducing the practical marks as Chaudhary had called the girl student with bad intention.

The guardians have filed an application citing that the teacher ruined the future of the student. They have demanded that the institute take stern action against the culprit. They accused the teacher of reducing the practical marks after the girl student did not receive his phone calls at night. Similarly, the students have also accused Chaudhary of pressuring the Civil Engineering third year girl students to talk with him on phone at mid-night.

The incident came to light after the result was published recently. The incident had happened some five months ago. Sabita Bam - the fifth semester student informed her guardians and then chief of the institute Birendra Babu Yadav about the incident. The victim student said that even the chief Yadav pressured her to settle the case. He has also requested not to escalate the issue on the same case. 'Yadav has tried to convince me not to make it a big issue,' she said. She said that she was awarded less mark compared to other students. Sabita's uncle Suraj said that she informed about the case with teary eyes. He also informed the administration about the same. When all the students get 95 per cent marks in practical, how can Sabita get only 50 per cent marks in practical,' he wondered.

Meanwhile, the institute head Manoj Kumar Saran admitted that the teacher had awarded the girl student less marks with bad intention. 'Considering the marks awarded to other students, it is very clear that the teacher has given less marks intentionally,' he added. Saran said that they would move ahead in coordination with chief district officer and Province Education Office. The guardians of the girl demanded that the student be awarded the deserving marks and action be taken against the teacher.
