RAUTAHAT, JULY 15

Two children, who had gone missing while swimming in the Bagmati River in Rautahat yesterday, were found dead today. Thirteen-year olds Hasha Jha of Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality-3, Matsari, and Aditya Das of Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality-2, Bhalohiya, had gone missing while swimming yesterday.

As learnt, some six students of Gyanodaya Boarding School of Durga Bhagawati-1, including Harsha and Aditya, had planned to take the final day's exam yesterday.

As per the plan, they had set out from home at about 7:30 am. They dismounted their bicycle on the roadside, put their bags with books down, removed their clothes and slippers and entered into the river for a swim in Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality-1.

After the swim, four of the boys came out but the other two could not. Upon seeing this, the kids panicked and asked the women who were collecting fodder nearby for help. But as the women also couldn't help, the four kids ran home in fear.

Families of the missing kids learnt about the missing boys when they reached the site where they had left their cycles, clothes, slippers and bags before jumping into the river.

Search for the missing kids with the help of divers of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army was carried out but it was stopped at 8:00 am in the evening after no trace of the missing boys were found till then.

According to Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality-3 Ward Chairperson Dharmendra Kumar Jha, the bodies of the children were found this morning. While Aditya's body was found in the south of Matsari, Harsha's body was found stuck against a pillar of the under-construction bridge in the Bagmati River in Badaharwa.
