The dead bodies of two Indian nationals who had been swept away by the Bagmati river in Noonthar, Rautahat have been recovered on Sunday.

A team of security personnel recovered the dead bodies of the Indian duo this afternoon who had gone missing in the Bagmati river in Chandrapur Municipality-1 at the Paurai based Noonthar Mahadev Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Mayank Agarwal, 24, and Ritesh Shah, 21, of Bihar state in India.

They had come to Noonthar for recreation during which the incident took place.

According to a press release issued by the Armed Police Force (APF) batallion no 11, the dead bodies were recovered this afternoon in Baleri Khor forest of Brindaban Municipality-01.

The dead bodies have been sent to the Gaur-based provincial hospital for autopsy to be conducted in presence of the relatives of Agarwal and Shah before handing over the bodies, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhruv Karki of APF.
