Permit to operate resort within LDT revoked

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 2

The decision to grant permit to operate a resort within Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) has been scrapped.

The board meeting held today under the chairmanship of Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Chairman of Lumbini Development Fund Council, Jeevan Ram Shrestha, revoked the decision of May 2 to give permission to a company called 'Samsara Wellness' to operate a resort inside the LDT stating that the decision was against Lumbini Master Plan.

The council meeting has also decided to operate electric buses within one month for tourist facilities in Lumbini.

Minister Shrestha said operation of an electric bus will facilitate tourists in sightseeing and taking the Lumbini heritage tour.

The council meeting of the trust has also pledged to complete the Lumbini Master Plan within current financial year.

In addition, the meeting decided that the preliminary blueprint for a long-term master plan featuring various Buddhist sites will be prepared within two months.
