JANAKPURDHAM, AUGUST 11

Eighteen complaints of irregularities and corruption were filed at the Jana Lokpal Aayog (Citizen's Ombudsman Commission) in the fiscal 2021-22. The Aayog is the citizens' ombudsman body set up by the Madhes government.

However, the Commission has not been able to complete investigation into a single complaint so far owing to lack of required human resources, according to the commission's Chairperson Ram Sahay Raya Yadav. According to Yadav, the highest number of complaints is related to irregularities at the local level in the districts.

He said the commission had not been able to carry out investigation into complaints as it was unable to get the regulations and required number of employees for long period of time.

The commission is mandated to probe alleged irregularities and corruption cases in public bodies and organisations in the province and take action against the culprits.

Most of the complaints are related to corruption in development projects operated by the local level and irregularities prevalent in the appointment process.
