KHOTANG, AUGUST 17

The number of viral fever patients at Khotang District Hospital has been increasing of late.

Among the 150 patients visiting the hospital for OPD services, more than 50 to 60 per cent complain of high fever, headache and joint pain, among other health issues, informed Dr Puskar Rai.

He further said the infected ones were asked to be on medication and stay in home-isolation for at least 10 days as they had symptoms similar to COVID-19.

Moreover, health workers in the hospital too are falling taken ill one after another, spurring tension for the infected ones as well as the hospital management.

Of the 58 health workers in the district hospital, 14 have been infected with viral fever so far, informed the hospital Administration Chief Rabin Phuyal.

The infected health workers were compelled to continue providing uninterrupted health services to the patients despite falling ill. Increasing cases of viral fever has equally worried the locals.

The district has COVID-19 treatment facilities in most of the local levels, but they are not in operation at present.

Khotang District Health Office Chief Punya Prasad Sigdel, however, said that all logistical preparations had been completed to re-operate those treatment facilities.
