With monsoon at its peak, the number of seasonal patients have increased at Damauli Hospital in Tanahun.

Patients complaining of common cold, cough and diarrhoea, among other diseases reach the hospital in huge numbers every day. According to the hospital, more than 220 patients reach the hospital on a daily basis. Acting Medical Superintendent Dr Diwas Dhakal at the hospital said that patients suffering from flu and diarrhoea, among other seasonal diseases reached the health facility for treatment.

Similarly, patients with diabetes, blood pressure and orthopaedic problems, among other ailments, also reach the hospital for treatment. Dr Dhakal said that more than 30 patients visited the emergency ward of the hospital every day. He added that all the beds were occupied.

Earlier, more than 150 patients used to visit the hospital for treatment on a daily basis.

Patients from Byas Municipality, Myagdi Rural Municipality, Bhanu Municipality, Rising Rural Municipality of Tanahun and patients from Madhyanepal Municipality, Lamjung, visit the health facility for treatment.

Doctors advise patients to drink boiled water, avoid eating unhygienic and leftover food, and maintain hand hygiene to avoid seasonal diseases. Dr Dhakal said that some patients had to be referred to other hospitals for treatment due to their worsening health condition.
