Greater Pokhara need of hour: Gandaki CM

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel has said tourism development of Pokhara city should be advanced with the idea of Greater Pokhara.

Inaugurating the 22nd Annual General Assembly of Pokhara Tourism Council here today, he said tourism sector's development should be carried out with the concept of Greater Pokhara, adding that tourism was the foundation for the prosperity of Gandaki Province.

Pokharel also voiced the idea of declaring Pokhara as the capital city of tourism. Likewise, Gandaki Provincial Assembly member Rajiv Pahari said he would make efforts to have in place tourism-friendly laws by amending the gaps in the existing act passed by Gandaki Province.

Similarly, Chief District Officer of Kaski Jaya Narayan Acharya said that the administration had left no stone unturned in maintaining law and order in the city as the assurance of peace and security was vital for the development of tourism sector.

Member of Nepal Tourism Board Madan Acharya, Chairman of Pokhara Tourism Council Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, founding Chairman of Council Ashok Palikhe, among others, expressed their views on the tourism potential of Pokhara.
