DHARAN, AUGUST 28

Dharan Sub-metropolitan City is one of the neatest city in Province 1, but of late it has been facing problems managing its waste, something akin to what capital of the country has been facing.

However, the city is facing a hard time managing the garbage. For lack of proper waste management, the city is dumping garbage in Charkoshe jhadi. The dumped garbage in the Charkoshe forest reaches Sunsari's Bharaul, Dumraha, and Singiya, among other places.

Following the protest by people from Baklauri, Dharan has stopped dumping the garbage in Seuti Khola. But, the garbage is being dumped in Charkoshe forest at Dharan-15.

Dharan and Itahari sub-metropolitan cities have started dumping garbage in Charkoshe jhadi. Garbage is causing problems to people living around the forest. Bajhgara Community Forest Users' Committee Vicechair Kumar Bharati has urged the sub-metropolitan cities not to dump garbage in the forest.

The garbage dumped in the forest is against the Forest Act.

Newly-elected Mayor Harka Sampang Rai launched a campaign to make Dharan clean and neat city of late.

However, holy sites appear to be littered with garbage. Garbage litters Bijayapur, Dantakali and Pindeswor temples and their surroundings.

Karna Bahadur Rai of Dharan-14 said that garbage would litter the street as employees of waste management would not come to collect the garbage on time.
