Teacher thrashes student for being absent

SIRAHA, SEPTEMBER 13

A teacher of a private school thrashed a student a for being absent from his class in Mirchaiya Municipality, Siraha, today.

Nepali teacher Shrawan Sah of White House English Boarding School thrashed tenth grader Aananda Yadav of Ganeshmancharnath Municipality, Dhanusha.

The injured student is receiving treatment in a Mirchaiya-based private health facility.

The student said he was on the way to the police office to complain about the same. 'But the teacher thrashed me indiscriminately on the road while I was on the way to the police station,' he added.

Aananda, who is also a hostel student at the same school, said that he did not sleep till late night yesterday after the issue of hostel food ran high.

'I could not join class as I could not sleep last night over the issue,' he said. He further added that the teacher along with other outside youths thrashed him black and blue even though he had informed the school saying that he was unable to attend school.

Meanwhile, the teacher Sah has admitted wrongdoing. He said that he was on the way to convince the boy while he was heading towards the police office.

'But the student misbehaved with me and I and other youths thrashed him,' he said.

He added that he, along with other students, was heading to get Aananda back. 'But Aananda caught my shirt collar and I hit him with a helmet,' he said. Sah said that the other two persons also thrashed Aananda at the same time. Police said that Sah was in police custody and they were searching for the other youths involved in the case. Investigation is under way and action will be taken against the culprit, said police.

Aananda's father Ram Saran Yadav said that the two youths involved in the case should be arrested and demanded stern action against them. Students reached the police station and demanded action against the teacher.

Ram Saran said that Aananda had been studying in the same school from nursery level and was staying in the hostel.
