A 64-year-old woman who had been trapped in a house in Betrawati of Nuwakot since the Bhotekoshi flood was rescued alive on Friday, 11 days after the disaster.
The survivor, Chandrika Shrestha of Bidur Municipality-10, was rescued from the fourth floor of a house by a team of the Armed Police Force (APF) led by Inspector Suman BK.
According to APF Deputy Superintendent Birendra Raut, the rescue team was clearing debris from flood-damaged houses when they heard Shrestha's voice and immediately launched the operation.
Shrestha was found unconscious and partially trapped in mud, according to a post by Dipa Dahal, press and research adviser to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
She was given preliminary treatment before being flown by helicopter to the Nepal Army's Maithili Barracks in Trishuli. She will be taken to Kathmandu for further treatment if required, Dahal said.
The rescue comes 11 days after the devastating flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26, which swept through settlements and affected areas downstream along the Trishuli River.
