Two workers trapped inside a tunnel of the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project since the devastating Bhotekoshi flood have been rescued alive 10 days after they went missing.
The two, Sanjay Sah and Kabir Maharjan, were rescued Thursday morning by a joint team led by the Nepal Army, with personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and technical experts.
Nepal Army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet confirmed both workers were found alive inside the project tunnel.
According to Dipa Dahal, press and research expert to the Prime Minister, Sah is in stable condition, while Maharjan is in serious condition. Maharjan, rescued second, was taken to Birendra Army Hospital in Chhauni for intensive treatment. Sah, though stable, is also being taken to the hospital for further examination.
Rescue teams had been making continuous efforts since the flood struck, amid fears that people were trapped inside the hydropower project. The successful rescue comes as part of a wider search and rescue operation following the devastating flood in Rasuwa.
