KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 4
Two Indian nationals died and two others were injured when a car with an Indian registration number plunged into Phewa Lake in Pokhara early Friday morning.
The accident occurred at around 4:50am at the Gairichautara bend in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 while the car was travelling from Sedi towards Lakeside, police said.
Police Inspector Deepak Prasad Rijal, acting information officer at the District Police Office, Kaski, said the deceased were 26-year-old Navdeep Kumar Yadav of Raxaul, East Champaran, Bihar, and another Indian man whose identity has yet to be established.
Rescuers pulled both men from the lake in an unconscious state and took them to Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, where doctors pronounced them dead.
Two other occupants, 27-year-old Anmol Kumar Yadav and 33-year-old Suraj Yadav, both from Raxaul, were rescued and taken to Gandaki Medical College for treatment.
The car, bearing Indian registration number BR 05 BB 6759, was retrieved from the lake using a crane and has been kept at the Baidam Ward Police Office.
Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
