Police in Sarlahi have arrested two Indian nationals after recovering more than 109 kilograms of marijuana from a car during a surprise security check in Lalbandi Municipality.
Acting on a special tip-off, a police team conducted a surprise inspection at Nawalpur in Lalbandi-1 at around 5:00 am on Monday. During the operation, officers intercepted an India-registered car (BR 09 M 3766) travelling eastbound and recovered 109 kilograms of marijuana concealed in the vehicle's trunk.
According to District Police Office, Sarlahi spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bed Prasad Gautam, the arrested individuals have been identified as 26-year-old Deepak Kumar Mahato, the driver of the vehicle, and 25-year-old Aman Kumar, both residents of Sitamarhi district in Bihar, India.
Police have taken both suspects into custody along with the seized marijuana and the vehicle. An investigation is underway after obtaining remand from the Sarlahi District Court under the Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act, police said.
