Tamang, Acharya win team title

Subash Tamang and Sadbhav Acharya won the team event title of the Nepal Tourism Amateur Championship here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
The Nepal 'A' posted a 36- hole total of three-under 285 to register a 10-stroke victory over Nepal 'B' team of Tashi Tshiring and Wangchen Dhondup.
Gandaki Province team of Ajit BK and Suresh Tamang finished third with the total score of 22-over 310, while Bangladesh team of Liton Mondol and Mehedi Hasan came fourth with the score of 311.
The 13th South Asian Games double gold medallist, Tamang carded five-under 67, while Acharya played a round of one-under 71 on the second day. Tshiring scored two-over 74 and Wangchen carded oneover 73. Qatar team of Selah Ali Lakaabi and Abdulrahman Al Shahrani came fifth with the total score of 28-over 316.
In the women's section, Nepal team of Kashmira Shah and Sushma Sigdel won the title with the total score of 31-over 319. Bagmati Province team - represented by Prativa Rai and Tara Karki Chitrakar - finished a distant second at 65- over 353. Bangladesh team of Sonia Akter and Ringkee Akhter came third with the score of 66-over 354.
In individual event, Subash Tamang opened up a ninestroke lead after he carded a 67 to post the 36-hole total of seven-under 137. Tashi Tshiring and Qatar's Selah Ali Lakaabi shared the second position at two-over 146. Tshiring shot a two-over 74, while Lakaabi played four-over 76.
Sadbhav Acharya was at the fourth position at four-over 148 after he carded one-under 73. Wangchen Dhondup and Ajit BK were tied for fifth at five-over 149 after they shot one-over 73.
In women's section, Kashmira Shah took a 13-shot lead after she carded four-over 76 for the 36-hole total of 153. Sushma Sigdel was second at 22-over 166 after she played a round of nine-over 81. Prativa Rai was third at 29-over 173.
The team event winners were decided on the scores of 36 holes, while the individual event participants will play the final 18 holes on Thursday. On the final day of the event, 72 golfers will participate in a corporate event, which will be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format.
