BIRGUNJ, OCTOBER 20

CPN-MC's Birgunj Metropolitan City Chairperson Rahabar Ansari, who was defeated as mayoral candidate and Provincial Assembly candidate five years ago, is looking to eke out a win this time around with the support of the coalition.

Ansari is contesting the PA election from Parsa Constituency-1 A with the support of the ruling coalition. In the past provincial election, Ansari had secured 6,794 votes but lost against then Federal Socialist Forum Nepal's Jannat Ansari, who had received 8,593 votes.

This year, however, Jannat Ansari has filed rebel candidacy after his party didn't offer him the election ticket.

As he was a PA member just until he resigned from the post for this election, the battle between Rahabar Ansari and Jannat Ansari is going to be worth-watching.

To make the fight more interesting, former Constituent Assembly member Bichari Prasad Yadav will also be in the fray representing the CPN-UML-Janata Samajbadi Party from the same constituency for the PA member's post.

Similarly, Nepali congress' Sudhir Patel, a long-time party cadre, has also filed his candidacy as an independent candidate for the post. A total of 18 persons are contesting for the post of PA member from Parsa-1 A for the election.

The ruling coalition's candidate Ansari said he was confident about securing a win this time around, provided that he got full support of the coalition.

'I have a better chance of securing victory as voters these days seem to be favouring youths,' he said.
