KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 12

The Nepali Congress on Wednesday issued a press release saying that it had expelled for five years rebel candidates, as well as cadres who proposed and seconded their candidacies in the parliamentary and provincial elections.

NC rebels include Amresh Kumar Singh, who is contesting election from Sarlahi-4. EC has allotted him fish as election symbol.

Among other rebel candidates from mainstream parties who are contesting as independents is Prabhu Sah who was associated with the CPN-UML. He has filed his candidacy as an independent from his home constituency of Rautahat.

The EC has allotted him handpump as election symbol. Sah is contesting as an independent candidate in protest against the UML's decision not to issue tickets to his favourites in the district.

Ghana Shyam Bhusal, who was associated with the UML but filed his candidacy from Rupandehi-5 after UML denied him the ticket, got triangle as election symbol.

Ranju Darshana, who had contested election for deputy mayor of Kathmandu metropolis in 2017 and who is contesting from Kathmandu-5 this time, has got sel roti as election symbol.

Writer Yug Pathak, who is contesting against UML Chair KP Sharma Oli from Jhapa-5, has got butterfly as election symbol.
