Officials stranded in upper Dolpa airlifted to Dunai

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 25

The officials deployed in upper Dolpa to conduct the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly on November 20 have been airlifted to the district headquarters in Dunai on Friday.

All the stranded government officials in the upper Dolpa were brought to Dunai after the weeklong efforts of the District Administration Office and Office of the Chief Returning Officer.

To airlift those officials, the Nepali Army's helicopter made seven flights today. It is said that altogether 139 officials deployed in 12 polling centres in upper Dolpa were stranded in the altitude above 4,000 to 5,000 metres.

A helicopter of the Nepali Army heading to Dolpa on Thursday to bring those officials had returned owning to unfavourable weather.

Chief District Officer of Dolpa Bednidhi Adhikari said that those officials were airlifted from Shey Phoksundo, Chharkatangsang and Dolpo Buddha rural municipalities.

It is said that some officials were taken ill due to excessive cold and lack of insufficient foods and other hardships.
