TAC advance to semis

Tribhuvan Army Club advanced to the women's section semi-finals of the seventh NVA National Club Volleyball Championship here at the NSC covered hall today.

In Group B, the departmental team recorded a 25-11, 25-10, 25-15 victory over Gandaki Province and accumulated six points.

In another match, Everest Volleyball Club beat Nayabazaar Samajik Youth Club 25-12, 25-12, 25-14 to earn three points in Group A.

In men's section, Nepal Police Club recorded their third straight victory. NPC defeated Gandaki Province 25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 25-15 to accumulate nine points and top Group C. The departmental side will take on Dawali Milan Kendra for a place in the semi-finals.

In another match, Dhorpatan Sports Club beat Newton Volleyball Academy 3-2. Gandaki have three points, while Dhorpatan are third on two and Newton crashed out with one point. The second team to make it to the quarter-finals from Group C will be decided after the match between Gandaki and Dhorpatan.

In Group D, TipTop Help Nepal Sports Club recorded their second consecutive victory and advanced to the quarters. Help Nepal who had defeated Budhanilkantha Sports Academy in their first match, beat Keshavlal Memorial Volleyball Club 25- 18, 25-18, 25-13 to accumulate six points.

A total of 23 teams - 15 in men's section and eight in women's category - are taking part in the championship organised by Nepal Volleyball Association.

Top three teams in both categories will receive Rs 400,000, Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively.

The best players of the championship will earn Rs 25,000 each, while the best spiker, setter, blocker, server, defender and coach will get Rs 10,000 apiece. The championship also serves as qualifiers for the NVA National Club League. Top eight teams in men's section and top six clubs in women's section will earn berths in the league.
