Expressing his best wishes on the occasion of Martyrs' Day, PM Dahal committed to dedicate his entire life to the country and people. 'I sincerely appeal to the general public to follow the path shown by the martyrs, not only in words, but also in deeds, and ensure that their sacrifices and inspiration are spent for development and prosperity of the nation and people,' the message said.

PM Dahal said the dreams and contribution of martyrs would always be an inspiration to institutionalise the federal democratic republic and make the country prosperous and advanced through implementation of the new constitution.

He hoped the historical day would inspire everyone to move forward for better future of the people and the country.

'We have been celebrating the Martyrs' Day to commemorate the martyrs who made great sacrifices during the struggle against dictatorship and autocracy.

Today is a day to pay special respect to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the self-respect and freedom of Nepal and Nepali people,' he said.

He paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in all the movements in favour of change and expressed respect for all the missing warriors. He wished long life and speedy recovery for the warriors injured during the movement.

'Nepal has witnessed struggles before the beginning of Rana period, movement against Ranas, 1951 revolution, second people's movement, decade-long people's war, Madhes movement and other movements.

Whatever achievements have been made were possible due to the struggle and sacrifice of those great martyrs,' the message stated. He said it was necessary for all of us to continuously strive from our respective places to realise their dreams with high respect.

Similarly, Chairman of the Nepali Congress and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba urged the people to move ahead with dogged determination and forget petty matters to realise the dreams of martyrs and lead the country on the path of prosperity to protect the interests of the country and democracy.

Issuing a message, Deuba said the patriotic heroes sacrificed themselves with the belief that only through equal rights, opportunities, justice and strong democracy, would it be possible for Nepal to transform into a beautiful, peaceful and advanced nation.
