Elderly gets lifer

A septuagenarian who was charged of rape of three minor girls has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

A single bench of district judge Harishchandra Dhungana handed down the punishment to the 73-year-old convict. According to the court registrar Min Bahadur Kunwar, the old man has been accused of raping three minors aged 9, 11, and 12 years at different times two years ago.

'The punishment of life imprisonment is for raping the nine-year-old; the court is yet to deliver its verdict on the rape of the other two girls,' he said. He had been in prison for the past two years, awaiting trial.
