Rai moves up to T19 after Day-III

Top Nepali pro Sukra Bahadur Rai moved seven places up after the third round of the Tata Steel PGTI Players Championship at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata today.

Rai carded two-under 68 in the penultimate round to post the 54-hole total of five-under 205. He moved up the ladder to earn a share of 19th position with three Indian pros Mary Mathur, Tapy Ghai and Mani Ram, along with Badal Hossain of Bangladesh and Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka.

The Dharan-based pro, Rai carded one-under 35 on his front nine and added one-under 33 on the latter half. Starting the day from the 10th tee, Rai dropped shots on the 14th and 16th holes against birdies on the 13th, 15th and 17th holes. After taking the turn, Rai carded a birdie on the fourth and saved pars on eight other holes.

Indian pro Sachin Baisoya opened up twostroke lead after he carded five-under 65 for the total score of 15-under 195. Overnight joint leader Harsh Gangwar (67) slipped to second at 13-under 198. American pro Varun Chopra moved five places up to third at 12-under 199 after he carded 65.
