'Govt to ease distribution of driving licence'

Madhes Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav has said the government is committed to easing the distribution of driving licence.

Inaugurating a vehicle driving licence service extension office today in Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat, CM Yadav said, 'We're aware of the ordeals of people seeking driving licence, especially the way they have to suffer at the hands of middlemen and agents. I hope the inauguration of this office today will put an end to their plight to some extent.'

CM Yadav also conveyed the government's plan to set up driving licence offices in all districts of the province by allocating the required fund for the same in the next fiscal budget. On the occasion, he also instructed staffers at the newly set-up office to provide prompt and hassle-free service.

'We would like to issue licences within 24 hours, but due to technical problem, for now we have ensured that it will be issued at least within a week,' he said. He also revealed the provincial government's plan to procure a driving licence printing machine in the near future.

Furthermore, CM Yadav expressed the government's plan to make the people in the province prosperous by prioritising agriculture, education and health sectors. 'We are all committed to setting up an ICU at the provincial hospital within a month and improving the management there. We hope this will end the plight of patients, of having to go out of the province for treatment.'

CM Yadav also revealed the government's plan to set up provincial schools and improve the quality of education across the province. 'Besides, we will also work towards elevating the agriculture sector by ensuring systems to irrigate more land and timely availability of seeds and fertiliser,' he said. He also pledged to ensure better embankments along major rivers.
