Rupandehi-based Siddhartha Gautam Basic School will have enough classrooms to conduct teaching-learning activities, thanks to the Um Hong Gil Human Foundation.

Captain Um Hong-Gil, Executive Director of Um Hong Gil Human Foundation (UHGHF) and Surendra Paudyal, Chairman, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality, inaugurated the construction and extension of school classrooms today.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of around 500 people, including Captain Um Hong-Gil, Kim Sung-il, Former Chief of Staff of the Air Force of Republic of Korea and Surendra Paudyal, students and parents of the school, according to a statement issued by the UHGHF.

'The newly expanded RCC construction includes 8 child-friendly classrooms on the top floor of the existing school building and the school will have sufficient computer labs,' the statement said, adding that library facilities will be installed in the newly expanded classrooms, and sufficient furniture for office and classroom will also be provided.

With this extension, UHGHF plans to renovate the existing 8 classrooms of the ground floor and toilet building as well, which was built with the financial and technical support of UHGHF back in the year 2012. At that time the school had around 200 students but now it is serving around 380 students in nearby areas.

The total cost of the School Expansion Project is NPR 12,200,000, of which UHGHF is planning to support NPR 11,200,000 and remaining NPR 1,000,000 will be borne by Gaidahawa Rural Municipality. 'In this regard, a tripartite memorandum of understanding was also signed among UHGHF, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality and school management today,' the statement added.

A group of Donors from Korea including Kim Sung-il, Former Chief of Staff of the Air Force of Republic of Korea attended the ceremony and inspired the students to pursue their dream through education.
