Rolpa:Farmers in Ropla district have been hit hard due to lack of rainfall during this winter. Farmers are worried after their wheat plants, the main grain after paddy and maize in the district, started drying in the farm due to lack of irrigation. Farmers in the district are obliged to rely on rainfall for their crops due to lack of irrigation facilities in this hilly district of the Midwest. Lack of rainfall would have a far-reaching impact on locals. They complained heavy loss in wheat production would result famine in the district this year. Farmers said the local productions are insufficient for six months because of lack of timely rainfall, scarcity of insecticides and pesticides in the local markets, and traditional tendencies.
